What should be noted when using castable mix ratios?

Before conducting the production of castable, the first task to be done is the preparation of the product. Due to differences in environmental factors such as temperature in various regions, the required materials and other aspects must be prepared according to actual conditions. After clarifying all these, the relevant proportions should be accurately formulated.

  1. When preparing castable, the mixing ratios of powder, binder, and setting agent vary due to climatic differences in different regions:
    • Coastal areas: High temperature, ratio is 1:1.2:0.045.
    • Central South and East China: Moderate temperature, ratio is 1:1:0.04.
    • Northeast China: Low temperature and dry weather, ratio is 1:1.1:0.04.
    • Northwest China: High temperature and dry weather, ratio is 1:1.4:0.04.
  2. Before preparing castable, the bonded parts need to be stirred evenly.
  3. Mix the powder and setting agent according to the ratio, then accurately weigh and mix the binder with the powder until uniform (mix with a small mixer for 3-4 minutes or manually for 4-6 minutes).
  4. The prepared mortar maintains good workability within 50 minutes, so the amount of each batch should not exceed the quantity that can be used within 50 minutes. It should be determined according to the construction speed, mixed and used immediately without excess.
  5. The applicable temperature for this product is 10℃~35℃. Under special temperature conditions, the manufacturer will prepare it separately according to the requirements of the construction unit and send technical personnel to conduct on-site operation and commissioning.

Therefore, to achieve the desired performance of the castable, efforts must be made in the preparation process, and strictly complying with the product preparation requirements is fundamental. It should also be noted that the materials used during preparation must not be wetted by rain or soaked in water under any circumstances and must be kept dry. Otherwise, excessive moisture will render them unusable, which is an undesirable waste of resources.
